Have you ever had "The Talk" about organ and tissue donation with your loved ones? It's not an easy conversation, but it's incredibly important to share your decision now before any tragic events occur. In the United States alone, over 100,000 people are waiting for life-saving transplants, and tens of thousands more need life-enhancing tissue or cornea transplants each year. Just one organ and tissue donor can save 8 lives and enhance the lives of over 75 others.
We invite you to join our team on Sunday, June 8th in New Providence, NJ for the Sharing Network Foundation’s 15 Years of the 5K Celebration of Life! This event is a wonderful opportunity to honor donors, celebrate recipients, and offer hope to those still waiting for transplants. Every dollar raised supports the Sharing Network Foundation’s mission to support families touched by donation.
On a personal note, after a ski accident tore a ligament in my left leg, I found myself unable to assist residents at the nursing home where I worked as a Recreation Therapist. Simple tasks like pushing a wheelchair or helping someone get up from a chair became painful. My surgeon suggested having my ACL replaced with donor tissue. Although the aftercare was challenging, I was able to regain full range of motion. Each time a resident thanked me for something as simple as tying their shoe, I took a moment to thank my donor. Without a family's generous decision to honor their loved one's wish to be an organ and tissue donor, I would not have been able to continue paying it forward.
Please consider joining our team or contributing to this cause today. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those in need.
