The 5K Celebration of Life raises awareness about the importance of organ & tissue donation and will help save lives. We need your support!

We are participating in honor of Devon Lewis, our 23 year old son, brother, fiancé, uncle and friend.

Devon was a very passionate man and was very protective over all his loved ones. He loved to learn, especially when it came to history and the sciences, He found solace in nature and would research and watch animals frequently. Devon loved to be a part of the gaming community where he was well-known and loved by many. He recently required his HVAC certification in December of 2021 and graduated with a 3.87 GPA. Unfortunately, he did not get a chance to pursue his career. He died unexpectedly on April 26th 2022.

Devon lives on through the recipients of his organs and tissues. Devon’s heart was transplanted into a 14 year old girl, his liver into a 57 year old man, his right kidney into a 24 year old young man and his left kidney into  a 61 year old man. His donated tissues will miraculously improve the quality of life for those suffering from chronic pain and impaired mobility. We recently received a letter from an 11 year old girl who promised to treat Devon’s gift of tissue with care and believes it will inspire her to work two times harder in everything she does going forward.

Although we are devastated over the loss of Devon, he will forever live on through the lives he has helped save and enhance through his organ and tissue donations. His spirit and memory will forever live on.

Over 100,000 people in the United States are waiting for a life-saving transplant and nearly 4,000 live right here in New Jersey. Tens of thousands more need life-enhancing tissue or cornea transplants each year. One organ and tissue donor can save 8 lives and enhance the lives of over 75 others. But the waiting list is long and for many, organ and tissue donation can mean the difference between life and death.
