Ocean Grove 5K Celebration of Life

Team Rosie

My name is Rosemarie Hampp and I’m the team Captain. The team was started this year as a way to celebrate my 20th Anniversary as a living donor. On December 17, 2003 I donated my kidney to my Mom Rose. Hence the name “Team Rosie.”

I am on a mission to raise $20,000 in honor of my Mother and all living donors. All proceeds will be donated directly to the NJ Sharing Network.

I chose the famous image of Rosie the Riveter for our team logo not only for the name, but for what she embodies. She evokes the heroic way women during World War II assumed jobs traditionally held by men – to help with the war effort. The “Rosies” faced challenges but they persevered. They showed us the importance of staying true to yourself and living with commitment.

Thus, Team Rosie has become a symbol of empowerment – a call for us to work together to support and advocate for organ and tissue donation. It also illustrates that we can do anything we put our minds to. WE CAN DO IT!

Please join me on this journey as a Team Rosie member, whether it be as a participant or supporter. It is greatly appreciated.

In addition, I’ve designed four different stickers to inspire others to register to be organ donors or to show their support for the Transplant Community. They are weatherproof and can even be put in the dishwasher. So go ahead, and stick them anywhere! The colors represent the Donate Life cause as well as the sunflower and butterfly. I would be happy to send one or more to you. Feel free to reach me at rosie1212@aol.com.
